Put the bag of chips aside, there’s a new dating trend coming in!!
It’s called Workout Wooing, and at some point, a lot of people have been practicing it without even knowing they’re raising a trend.
The Workout Wooing trend essentially represents an emerging dating trend referring to the people who work out together during a date.
Be that first date, second date, or you’ve been dating for quite some time, if you’re into physical activity, you might be the one to love Workout Wooing!
You can invite your date to join you for a workout at the gym, a yoga session, a hike, a run, pilates, you name the activity!
Apparently, people have been doing this for quite some time, it just didn’t have a name until a study was made regarding workout dates.
The study was conducted by Bumble in collaboration with Gymshark, and it showed that 22% of people aged 18 to 34 have been on a workout first date.
The same study further shows that 46% of people prefer a workout date over a classical dinner night date.
The collab between Bumble and Gymshark didn’t stop with the study!
Due to the dating trend, Bumble and Gymshark got creative together and made something interesting for fitness lovers.
Call it a creative marketing strategy or a well-thought campaign, the collaboration between Bumble and Gymshark can be a great way for you to hop in and join the trend!
If you’re using Bumble, you can join speed dating classes being held at Gymshark Regent Street Store this April.
There’s a bar included, food, music, and more. If you’re in the mood for a smoothie after your workout date, you know the place!
Why is Workout Wooing trending now?
Being healthy is trending right now. It’s not just a trend one wants to follow. Being healthy is a necessity for a joyful ride in this world.
But, if we remove the pink filters, the truth is, being healthy has become a sort of a trend that somehow makes you be perceived as cool or trendy if you will.
Now, of course, celebrities and people of big influence have embraced such a lifestyle and promote it on a regular basis.
What’s a healthy lifestyle highly associated with? That’s right, gym, workouts, yoga, or physical activity in general.
Today the focus on a healthy lifestyle is more intense than ever. How we live our lives inherently affects our life dynamics and preferences to some degree.
If you’re a gym, fitness, healthy lifestyle, yoga, or physical activity enthusiast, you’re likely to be drawn and attracted to a partner who is a physical activity enthusiast like yourself.
It can start from an online conversation on online dating.
“I love gym” followed by an “Oh I love gym too! We should have a workout date!”
With the rise of the healthy focused lifestyle, the Workout Wooing is without-surprise a trend on the rise too!
Should you join the Workout Wooing trend too? Why?
If you love and enjoy the dynamic of physical activity and if you wish to have a partner that matches your level of enthusiasm for it then yes, you should have a workout date.
People of influence, celebrities, and perhaps your favorite couples on TV at some point have done a workout date.
Yet, you can still be skeptical about it.
Well, here’s why you should join the Workout Wooing trend:
1. It can help you feel safer.
Public spaces are a safe bet if you don’t know much about your date.
Usually, gyms and other workout spaces are well-lit, include other people, and have CCTV cameras.
This can allow you to feel safer when on a date. If you don’t feel safe, you can always pull out an “I’m staying for another session, but it was a pleasure knowing you.”
2. A workout date can be perfect if you’re looking for a sober date.
Another dating trend called Dry Dating has been emerging recently.
If you’re looking to go on dates that involve zero alcohol, then you joined this trend without even knowing it.
So, if you’re looking for a sober date, a workout date can be the one for you!
3. The fun dynamic of it can make your bond easier with one another.
As long as you don’t forget to interact with one another, a workout date can have a very fun dynamic which can lead to both of you bonding like love birds!
Depending on the workouts, you can have a fast-paced workout where you focus on the exercise a bit more or a slow-paced workout where you talk a bit more.
4. Working out together in a public space removes the pressure of having sex.
We all know the tension and pressure after a romantic dinner date.
You’re in the car contemplating your decision, or at your doorstep thinking how you don’t want this stranger in your bed tonight.
Well, a workout date can remove the pressure and can offer you plenty of opportunities to dodge an invitation to your date’s place.
5. It benefits your mind, body, and soul.
Working out does wonders for your mind, body, and soul.
Studies have shown the amazing benefits of physical activity to your mind.
Besides helping the brain release endorphins, physical activity can reduce anxiety and depression.
It can help you establish emotional balance and have better concentration.
Trust me, nothing beats a healthy date that benefits you long-term!
6. You can have a better viewpoint on your potential partner.
Through a workout date, you’ll have the chance to see your date’s temper, patience, and enthusiasm to learn.
This can be a wonderful way to explore your mindsets and see if they’re compatible.
You might find out that you can’t stand their impatience or you might find out you love their determination, all that and more, in one simple, fun date.
7. It’s an awesome way to explore a passion you have in common.
If you’re both passionate about physical activity, what better way to learn and explore it than a good workout date?
This allows you to show one another tips, tricks, exercise, and knowledge about fitness and health.
It’s a common passion that can light up sparks and have you two bond with one another.
8. If you don’t have compatible mindsets it’ll be obvious from the beginning.
Unlike a dinner date, on a workout date, you’re going to do something specific together.
As you may already know, the more you experience things with a person, the better you get to know them.
A workout date is one of those experiences you share that help you understand your potential partner better.
Determination, respect, values, and much more can be explored through a simple workout date.
9. Say bye to the awkward silence.
If you’re working out at the gym or a space dedicated to workouts, then, there will be minimal room for the infamous ‘awkward silence’.
The first date with a person you’ve never seen before can make comfortable room for the awkward silence to kick in, especially if you don’t share much in common.
Well, a loud space where you can interact with each other whenever you want can be the perfect space for you to avoid the notorious silence.
What about the people who hate working out?
If you’re a person who hates working out, who likes to call themselves a sofa spud, then stay out of it.
Workout Wooing is not for you if you don’t enjoy the physical activity at all especially if you’re not open to just the idea of it.
That being said, you should easily say ‘no’ to a workout date if you hate even the idea of working out.
On the other hand, if you feel like you could learn something from a person who loves working out, then knock yourself out!
If you’re feeling scared of dating, if you don’t know whether you should put yourself out there, talk to an expert.
They won’t tell you what to do, but they’ll surely help you in the process of finding out what’s the right thing for you!
Hugs,
Callisto
