Taylor Swift’s New Album Has Songs About Joe Alwyn, Travis Kelce and Other Exes

It looks like a brake-up album!

Taylor Swift has given her fans a delightful surprise by announcing the release of her new album.

After winning her 13th Grammy Swift took a moment during her acceptance speech to reveal that her 11th studio album, titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” will be hitting the shelves in April, HeTexted.com reports.

Within seconds, the internet exploded with wild theories about the album’s cryptic title, and its potential ties to her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

Now that the tracks of the album have been revealed we kind of have mixed feelings about the songs and the possibility of them being about Joe.

I have my doubts that some of those songs might be for someone else, like Travis Kelce for example, we need a happy track about him and Taylor Swift

Although his name wasn’t mentioned in any of the songs, it seems like Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn served as inspiration for several tracks.

The album has 16 tracks and a bonus one, but what has caught our eye is a song titled ‘So Long London’ further strengthening the idea that this might be about Joe Alwyn.

Given that she released “London Boy” in 2019 during their relationship, it’s not hard to guess who might be the muse behind her upcoming song “So Long, London.”

Oh, let’s not forget the name of the album because it does ring a bell, we have heard it before.

In December 2022, Joe Alwyn and Paul Mescal discuss a group chat they’re part of with Andrew Scott. This chat has been affectionately named “The Tortured Man Club.”

So that is another reason why we think the album has a connection to Alwyn noting his six-year-long relationship with Swift.

An interesting fact to mention is that this album has a long title which is very unusual for the superstar because all of her other albums have a one-word title.

Songs about Joe Alwyn or Travis Kelce

Other songs like “Down Bad,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can),” “Loml,” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” also suggest a heartbreaking breakup.

And do some lyrics she hinted at in the Instagram announcement: “I love you, it’s ruining my life.”

However, another detail that might be a reference to Travis is her song ‘Loml’. For those who do not know the ‘loml’ phrase is short for ‘Love of My Life’.

and after all those reports about an engagement being in the plans between Taylor and Travis, I am not about to leave the possibility of the song being about Kelce.

Who knows maybe I can jinx a love album from Taylor next, one where she sings to Travis, now that would be romantic.

Travis and Taylor

That might take a while, but hey at least she did sing ‘Karma is the guy on the chiefs coming home to me..’

For years fans have been theorizing about different tracks of Taylor being about Joe, even though they were still dating including the ‘Folklore’ album.

More meanings behind Taylor’s new album

Fans have made some interesting connections to the title “But Daddy I Love Him,” including references to The Little Mermaid and Harry Styles.

In the movie, The Little Mermaid, the line “But Daddy, I love him” is spoken by Ariel when her father discovers her romance with Prince Eric and forbids her from going to the surface.

This line resonates with Taylor’s fans because they believe it reflects her relationship with ex Joe Alwyn, where she gave up her voice, or in other words, kept their romance private, in order to find happiness.

Harry Styles and Taylor Swift

It’s worth noting that Taylor even dressed up as Ariel for Halloween once!

However, there’s also a connection to another ex, Harry Styles, who was spotted wearing a “But Daddy I Love Him” t-shirt in 2020.

At this point, we might have become a little delulu with the theories but we are just pointing some things out, nothing much.
