Tinder is one of the most popular dating apps. And some people, according to the infidelity statistics, use it for cheating.
A lot of people asking the main question of this article — finding if someone has a Tinder profile — are asking so to find out the truth about their partner.
Regardless, of whether you’re trying to find your partner’s Tinder profile or a stranger’s, we’re covering all the possible methods!
Here are the 10 most effective and effortless ways to find out if someone has Tinder:
1. Use Google for a username and image search.
A person’s username and pictures from their Tinder profile are easily accessible from search engines such as Google. Don’t ask me why!
This allows you to go through Tinder profiles without paying for any service, creating an account, or asking people to help you out. Here’s how it works:
– Do a username search on Google by typing site:tinder.com name on the search bar:
- Google.com
- Type site:tinder.com name; E.g. site:tinder.com joe
- Have a look at the results by clicking each link and checking other pages on Google as well.
Since reverse searching an image on Google won’t work for finding Tinder profiles, you can do something else!
For the same search you did up there, you can simply see what’s on Google Images for the same search. Here’s an example:
2. You can look them up through the URL too by typing tinder.com/@username
Here goes another super-simple and less time-consuming method!
It doesn’t need much explanation, it goes like this:
- Open a new tab,
- Type tinder.com/@username; E.g. tinder.com/@joe23
- This time you want to make the best guess of their username and not just write their names on the URL.
Say their name is Jessica; You want to try to guess what username Jessica could be using. It can be jess, jess01, or jess87, etc.
Here’s an example on ‘Sebastian’:
3. Have a glimpse of their notifications.
It won’t take much effort, or skills to go about this one.
If this person is your partner or friend, you can easily go about this by simply having a look at their notifications:
- Once their phone buzzes take a look at the notification(s)’s icon;
- If it’s the Tinder icon it means they have Tinder installed on their phone, hence indicative of their activity on Tinder.
- You’ll be able to tell if they’re on Tinder even if their phone doesn’t show the content of the notification.
The icon will be enough of a telltale. It looks like this for those of you not familiar with it:
4. A genuine conversation might help as well.
If you’ve just rolled your eyes, this is just the fourth option. So let’s take this slow.
A genuine conversation can be just enough to know if your partner has a Tinder account.
It’s a challenging conversation to have, but if you’re already having those doubts in your mind, then let’s not take the toxic path!
Here are two helpful tips to go about this conversation:
- Use more “I” to sound less accusing. For example, “I’m sensing distance. Would you like to talk about it?”
An accusing tone will likely get them defensive, making the discussion nearly impossible. Hence, the calm approach will make it easier for them to confess. - You can choose between asking tricky questions or directly posing the question of dating apps.
The direct approach can go something like“Was that a Tinder notification I saw on your phone? It’s okay, we can talk about it calmly.”
Whereas the indirect approach, “What do you think of people who use dating apps while in a relationship?”
5. A risky shot: Login on Tinder with their phone number.
Online infidelity is hard to detect. That’s why, sometimes, relying on sneaky methods is the effective method.
This is genuinely a risky shot since you’ll need their phone at your disposal for at least a solid half hour.
The positive side is that you don’t have to know their password. Here’s how it goes:
- Grab their phone and put their SIM card in your phone;
- Go to tinder.com or install the app;
- Tap ‘Create an Account’ or ‘Log in’ (whichever you prefer, it won’t play a role);
- Enter their phone number;
- Get the Tinder verification code on your phone;
- See if you’re guided to create a new account, or if there’s already an existing account on Tinder;
- Put their SIM card back on their phone.
6. Talk to your internet provider and see if Tinder has been visited with your WIFI.
If you live with this person, and you suspect that they’re using Tinder, then there’s another way to find out.
- You can contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them to help you find out what sites or apps have been visited through your WIFI.
- If Tinder is on the report, and you haven’t been using Tinder so far, then you know who it is.
It’s often a request made by parents who try to monitor their children’s activity online, hence your internet provider won’t be shocked by your request.
7. Use search sites that are made for this purpose.
This is great for those who don’t have much time to do a Tinder search on their own.
If you’re looking for ways to find people on Tinder by phone number or email, trust me, there’s no free method for this search!
That’s their downside: they’re not free.
Their design is often simple and easy to use. All it takes is a simple search by their name, phone number, or email:
Here are a few third-party apps that are known to be effective:
Note: Research the sites before deciding to use it’s a good idea to give your bank details to them.
8. Open your own Tinder account and start swiping until you find them.
This is the part where we go undercover. Whoever it is that you’re looking for on Tinder, if you set the preferences right, you will eventually find them!
First, you must open your Tinder account, that’s the easy part. Once you open the Tinder account:
- Set your preferences accordingly and based on the person you’re trying to find. For example, set the age at the limit of this person’s age; or the miles according to their location, and your interests similar to theirs.
- Turn on Friends of Friends. It is a feature that shows you Tinder users if both of you have a contact in common.
This only works if you allow Tinder to have access to your Contact List, and if the other person has this feature on as well.
- Swipe right to people who match the description of the person you’re looking for on Tinder. This way the Tinder algorithm will notice you have a type, hence suggesting similar profiles to you.
9. Ask a trusted friend to help you find out if this person is using Tinder.
If you don’t want to open your own Tinder account to search for this person, then you can rely on your trusted friends for this one!
What you have to do is simply say,
“I’m trying to find [name] on Tinder, will you please let me know if you stumble upon their/his/her profile?”
If your friend agrees and sees this person’s profile they can
- Share their profile with you,
- Swipe right on them and try to have a conversation with them to see if they’re active on the app,
- Or screenshot their profile and send you their profile right away.
There, you just found out your boyfriend has a Tinder profile for free!
10. Have a look at what they’ve been up to on their phone and computer.
Despite its toxicity, it gets the job done a lot of times. If none of the methods seemed convenient, then you’ve reached your last resort.
This one is more suitable for those trying to find their partner.
I’d recommend a messy fight over this, but it is an option, and it’s up to you whether you choose it or not.
Find a time when they’re not around and start looking at their phone and/or their computer. To see if they have a Tinder account you want to look for:
- The Tinder app installed on their phone or computer,
- tinder.com on their recent browsing or search history,
- Emails from Tinder,
- Tinder SMS codes on their Messages. Sometimes texts/codes from Tinder do come from SinchVerify.
– Say, you’ve found their profile, but how do you know they’ve been active on Tinder?
Let’s say we found the person we were looking for on Tinder. Now we’re faced with another challenge!
How do we know for sure that they’re active?
1. Look for the green dot (a.k.a Recently Active status) on their profile. If the Recently Active status is visible on their profile it means that they’ve been using the app within the last 24 hours.
Though, to clarify a misconception: you cannot know if someone is online on Tinder
Unless you’re texting with them at the moment, or you got matched at that moment, there’s no other way to tell whether someone is online on Tinder or not.
2. Swipe right on them. If you don’t see the green dot or the Recently Active status on their profile, then try swiping right on them. If they swipe right on your profile as well, you get a match and you get notified about it. Hence, indicates that this person is active on Tinder.
3. Check their profile and see if it gets updated, or look for clues of recency. When a user is active on Tinder their location updates depending on where they’re standing, or the “Miles Away” updates frequently. On the other hand, they might change pictures, or they might put a very recent photo of them on their profile.
The more recent the photo the more recent they’ve been on Tinder! Also, if this person’s anthem was out a week ago or 10 days ago, then that’s the minimum number of days you can suggest this person used Tinder for the last time.
– Can they escape our methods and use Tinder undiscovered?
Unfortunately, yes. Each of these methods can be ‘trespassed’ if the person’s intention is to hide their Tinder profile from you.
Here’s a detailed explanation of that!
- Incognito mode. If you check your partner’s phone or computer you won’t find anything if they’ve been using Tinder through incognito mode. Incognito mode doesn’t save any search or browsing history, and this makes it impossible for you to find any clues of Tinder on their phone or computer.
- Burner numbers. There are disposable numbers specifically designed for this issue.
If you’re trying to find this person on Tinder through their phone number, the search won’t be successful if they’re not using their personal number. - Fake account. This trespasses the username, name, and image search.
A fake Tinder account can be with a fake name, fake pictures, and fake information in general. If you’re using Google, the help of a friend, third-party apps, or your own Tinder account, if they’ve got a fake Tinder account, you won’t be able to find them! - They can lie to you and give you a sense of reassurance. If your partner is manipulative and a liar, they can lie to you when you address this issue.
- Secure folders. If you choose to see if your partner has the Tinder app installed on their phone, they can hide it in secure folders. Secure folders are essentially folders with passwords.
Unless you guess the password right, you might not find much information to help you have peace of mind.
And lastly, is it possible to see how long someone has been on Tinder?
Unfortunately, this is not possible as Tinder doesn’t display such information on profiles.
However, there’s a sneaky way to find out when a Tinder account was created. It’s not the healthiest method, but it works most of the time!
If this is your partner and you have access to their phone, you can check their messages to find out how long they’ve been on Tinder.
Look for the very first message that contains a Tinder SMS verification code. If your partner doesn’t delete those messages that’s the only way to find out.
Best of luck,
Callisto.
