Amie is friend not girlfriend in french but that doesn't mean he just wanna be friend, it's just that you have boyfriend and he doesn't wanna take risks

I think he is into you, he sounds genuinely happy to hear from you and I'm guessing he would have liked you to reply that you don't have a boyfriend. That he referred to you as "amie" isn't a big deal, he is just keeping it light.

"Amie" is French for "friend" (in feminine form) so he's not into you, you're just friends.

I am from southamerica but I also speak french, spanish and english. When a guy, (specially with a european background who are very straightforward and romatic) is just treating you like an "amie" or female friend...I would think he is not into you.

He is into you but doesn't want to go too far unless you are not in a relationship.

It could also be he is talking to someone whose name is Aimie and he texted you instead of her. He mixed up the texts.

He is using the word amie, which means female friend in French. He is interested, but wants to find out if you have a boyfriend while complementing you.

He is flirting with you, are you interested? If you have a boyfriend he is probably going to hold back, but he's definitely interested.
