Texted

He seems pretty busy in his life. Butdoes he really want to meet...

By julieparis | Mar 23 2015

I talked to this guy online and we decided to meet for a drink.
One week later he hadn't sent me any text (and I hasn't either) so I sent him a text saying: what should I think of such a silence? He answered: what do you mean? I said: weren't we supposed to have a drink a week ago? He answered: well yeah but we hadn't set a date, wuth pleasure, when would you be available?
We decided to meet a week later but the day before the first date he cancelled, apologizing, and asked me when I would be free for a new date. I suggested we could meet another week later.
On the day of the date, I sent him a text 1h30 before the date telling him I would be on time. He started answering something (I could see the small dots moving) but finally didn't send any answer. I sent him another text: tell me yes or no so that I don't wait for you. He finally answered me 30 minutes before the supposed date time: good evening, we have to postpone, I am sorry, I am sick, I will get back to you. I haven't answered and have had no news since.

Now I'm Wondering

He seems pretty busy in his life. Butdoes he really want to meet me? Why does he plan dates and finally cancels? Should I contact him again or should I just leave it as I have done so far?

In that case, how should I have acted in the first place when we were supposed to first meet and I had no news from him for a week? Just wait for news from him? I admit I wrote to him a little angrily (''what should I think of such a silence?'')

Either he is a catfish who is afraid to meet you because he won't be who he said he was, or he isn't interested. Either way its a waste of your time. You should not have to text him and remind him of the date, should have just stopped responding until he got in touch and asked for a date. You're making yourself too available and it can be a turnoff for most people if someone is easy to get.

If I had waited for him to give me some news, should I just have been nice and cheerful? What would you say to a guy you meet online who gets in touch by text for a first date after a long time without news? And who keeps being online all this time? When he finally texts you?

He is too afraid to meet you, or isn't interested. Either way, he lost his chance. Just consider him not an option and detach yourself from any thoughts of him. If he does get in touch, it does no good to get mad at him, but your action of rejecting him, saying something like "sorry, I'm not interested in meeting up anymore. Best of luck to you" will give him the message that you don't stand for this type of treatment.
